For our guests that are only here for a short period of time, we have a fantastic overnight safari option, closer to Cape Town, which is perfect for those

wanting to experience the magic of a safari, but do not have sufficient time to factor in the flights and transfers which are involved

with our traditional African safari offering.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, positioned at the foot of the Warmwaterberg Mountains, is a 58,000 hectare Private Reserve, and as it’s only a three hour drive from Cape Town, is accessible for a one or two night safari.

Sanbona Private Wildlife Reserve is in a malaria-free region, and boasts the Big 5, that being Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Buffalo & Leopard, as well as an abundance of smaller animals, all of which are free roaming and self-sustaining.  The reserve sits in the most beautiful setting, with sculpted Cape Fold Mountains, wide-open Karoo plains and indigenous flora & fauna. The vastness of this landscape, along with the stillness and isolation amid raw beauty, make Sanbona truly unique.

We have selected the Dwyka Tented Lodge as our preferred accommodation for our guests at Sanbona.  These nine luxury tents, with private decks and heated Jacuzzi’s, are set in a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine, and in a beautifully weathered landscape.  You have the option to dine alfresco or in the boma, and there is also a relaxation retreat, with an extensive range of treatments and therapies, to rejuvenate your body and soul.

We depart Cape Town early on day one, arriving at Sanbona for lunch, after a stunningly beautiful drive along the Garden Route.  After check-in and having lunch, you will depart for your late afternoon 3-hour Game Drive, on an open-sided 4x4 game vehicle, with a Game Ranger, to see what animals you can view.  This safari experience is second to none.  You will then freshen up before having dinner and enjoying some drinks under the African sky.  After a good night’s sleep, you will awaken early for your morning Game Drive, again off out to explore the wilderness and all the animals that inhabit that area.  Breakfast will be served upon arrival back from your safari, and there will be a late morning check-out before we start our journey back to Cape Town, arriving at the end of the afternoon.

This experience can be for just one night, or two (recommended), depending on how much time you have.  Rates from R17,300 per person per night, including return transfers, accommodation, all meals at Sanbona and x2 Game Drives per night stayed.

You can have return transfers by helicopter to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, rates from R34,550 per person per night, all-inclusive as per above.
